3320: TO DONALD BRACE
Monk's House, Rodmell,
Lewes, Sussex
9th Oct 37

Dear Mr Brace,

Many thanks for your letter. I am very glad to hear that the sales of The Years have been so good. I
suppose now that they must slack off, but I am greatly pleased and surprised, that they have been so high. Many
thanks for all the trouble you have taken on my behalf.

I received the copies of the Modern edition of To The Lighthouse safely. I could wish (privately
speaking) that the introducer did not think it necessary to drag in my private life. I wish one could keep that out
of writing and publishing. But I suppose one cannot complain, and people must make these guesses even if, as in
the present case, the guess is wrong.

You will be glad to hear that Maynard Keynes is very much better, though still forced to rest.

It has been a perfect summer in the English style: and so fine even now that we regret going back to
London tomorrow.

I hope you have recovered from your American summer.

With our kind regards
yours sincerely,
Virginia Woolf
